Programme of studies concerning vehicles and the environment.

This volume represents the selected and edited proceedings of the 5th International Conference on Vision in Vehicles held at the Kelvin Conference Centre, University of Glasgow, Glasgow, UK.

The chapters have been ordered to reflect the conference programme. The chapters consider simulation studies of driver performance, visual processing and collision avoidance. Cognitive issues are then addressed through several chapters detailing work on cognitive aspects of visual information processing, visual requirements of in-vehicle guidance systems and drivers support systems. Environmental factors, drivers’ own visual impairment is considered and alcohol effects on driving ability.
