Arabic Coffee Pot

Tuesday Evenings 6.30pm-8.30pm

This course is designed for those with basic previous knowledge of the Arabic language who have already mastered the alphabet. It is ideal for those who have completed Arabic Level 1. The aim of the course is to help students who have acquired basic Arabic language skills develop their competence further. 


The course runs for 20 weeks for 2 hours per week.  The price of the course will be added during the registration process.

Discount for anyone registered in 2016-17: £30 (already applied to the returner rates above). No more than one discount can be applied per year.

Course Description

At the end of the 20 weeks students will be expected to understand dialogue spoken in standard Arabic and converse in standard Arabic. This course will focus on standard or classical Arabic, which is the formal language used by all Arabs and for signposts around Arab roads, maps, menus, newspapers and magazines etc. During each session, students will be encouraged to use all four skills (listening, speaking, writing and reading).

Some of the topics covered are:

•           Greetings and introductions

•           Travel

•           Professions

•           Food and drink

•           Clothing and colours

•           Describing places and directions

•           Around the Home

On completion students will be able to:

•           Improve their use and pronunciation in Arabic

•           Articulate grammatically structured sentences

•           Use a wide variety of vocabulary (nouns, adjectives, verbs and adverbs) to converse in basic Arabic

•           Have a better general understanding of Arabic culture and people
