Japanese Level 1 2024-25

20-week Japanese Level 1 course:

Semester 1 (weeks 2-11 term-time) from Wednesday 9^th October to Wednesday 11th December 2024 (10 weeks). 

Semester 2  Wednesday 12th February to Wednesday 21st May 2025 (10 weeks + an optional cultural exchange in week 3). There are no classes during the Easter break.

4:00pm-6:00pm

Location: TBC. Classes to be delivered in-person on Campus.

Expected class size is 12 to 18 participants. 

Open to anyone aged 18 years of age and over.

Course Description

This course is designed for complete beginners or students with little knowledge of the language. 

The course covers a variety of everyday situations such as:

·        Introducing yourself and others

·         Telling times

·         Shopping

Class work emphasises listening, speaking and practice of sentence structure; self-study consists of reviewing work done in class and practising language skills, as advised by the tutor. Writing and reading Japanese letters (Kana) are left to your self-study, using the handouts provided and with the tutor’s support.
